Curricula & Learning

Our Program: Programs
Kids Drawing

Curriculum

We utilizes a combination of curriculums that includes the Mother Goose Time curriculum for mixed ages (2-5), Maryland’s Healthy Beginnings for two- three year-olds, and other teacher-created activities. The curriculum and lesson planning incorporate skills in each of the learning domains of cognitive, social/ emotional, physical, language, and spiritual.

Learning Environment

We provide a rich learning environment with curricula and materials that are developmentally appropriate for the age group in care. We have a structed yet flexible daily routine that allows children to advance at their own pace. We strongly believe that play is valuable. Learning and exploring are hands-on and are facilitated through interest areas. Our cognitive based program is designed to enhance children’s development in the following areas:  creativity, self-expression, decision-making, problem-solving, responsibility, independence, and reasoning. We encourage openness to that which is different from us and work and play with others.

Inclusion Policy

We are committed to establishing an environment where all children and families feel welcomed and included by treating each child as individuals and with respect. Our toys, classroom materials, and environment are designed to be safe for children at all levels.  Each child is encouraged to participate in activities regardless of age or ability. All activities can be modified to meet the child where they are developmentally.

Assessments

Within the first 60 days of a child's enrollment, an ASQ-3 assessment will be conducted. Additionally, Just-A-Buddy Early Learning Center will hold winter and spring assessments for each child in care. Assessments will be based on the child’s age and appropriate developmental milestones.
